In the wake of the suicide of reality TV star Russell Armstrong, it was reported a couple of weeks ago that Bravo TV was planning to postpone the season 2 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Today we learn that Bravo has decided NOT to postpone the September 5 premiere of the new season. In addition, the network has announced that it will air a Suicide Special episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to specifically address the suicide of Russell Armstrong. Doesn’t that sound like a fun show to watch?

Bravo will air a special that addresses the suicide of Russell Armstrong, sources tell EW. The network has shot a special that included several cast members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — Lisa Vanderpump, Camille Grammer, Kyle and Kim Richards, and Adrienne Maloof. Taylor Armstrong apparently was not included in the filming. The special has yet to be formally announced by the network, and its unclear when the special will air. The second season premiere of Beverly Hills is still on track for Sept. 5, with the show re-edited in wake of Armstrong’s death.
I mean … I’m not sure how I feel about this. I guess the network HAS to address Armstrong‘s suicide because to completely ignore it would be silly. But … yeah … we’ll have to see how this suicide special turns out. I sincerely hope it won’t feature the cast of RHOBH sharing fond memories of how much Russell meant to them because they all seemed very clearly not to be Russell fans before his death … and rightly so if Taylor Armstrong‘s claims of spousal abuse are true. I’m certain Bravo has a good plan in place to handle the situation but … yeah, they have to tread carefully. Apparently it was no secret among the Housewives cast that Taylor endured abuse from Russell (at the very least by witnessing it themselves, in addition to by his own admission), so it would be INSANELY WRONG to show them now heaping praise upon him in death. No word on when this “suicide special” will air but my guess is that it’ll come sooner rather than later.
